You want to get the best bang for your buck when it comes to RV insurance. That doesn’t mean cutting down on the coverage you need – there are other ways to get discounts on RV insurance. Most RV insurance companies will provide discounts to those who meet certain conditions. In fact, you may already qualify for a discount and you just don’t know it yet.
Here are a few discount options that apply to RV insurance:
RV Association Membership: If you’re an avid RVer, chances are you already belong to an RV association. Think of it as a good investment – you’ll receive discounts for a host of RV products, including insurance. Just a few of the national or regional RV associations include Good Sam, Camping World President’s Club, Escapees, FMCA and Thousand Trails.
Manufacturers’ Club Membership: Membership certainly does have its privileges! To promote its product, many RV manufacturers offer customers entry into an exclusive club… one that can save you money on your RV insurance. Just a few of the most popular ones include Winnebago, Holiday Rambler, Allegro, Coachmen, Gulfstream and Monaco.
RV Driving Courses: Just like your regular car insurance, you may also be eligible for an insurance discount if you take an RV driving course. Even if you took a course years ago, it never hurts to retake it and brush up on the basics. There are many state- or province-certified defensive driving courses available. As well, a current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) also qualifies.
RV Alarm System: You shouldn’t just have one for the RV insurance discount – it’s just a smart thing to do. Many of today’s new RVs already come with one installed, but it’s a good investment to buy a good anti-theft device. Make sure it is an audible alarm otherwise you may not get an RV insurance discount.
Not all of these discounts apply to different provinces and states, so be sure to ask your local RV insurance provider about the discounts available to you.
